Father Figure Novel for YAOI-Con 2011 (Fingers Crossed)

Father Figure is FINALLY finished as of early AM and will be on its way to press this afternoon.  Although we were given reasonable assurance that it will get to Yaoi-Con, we were also told to expect the worst (it will come in after Yaoi-Con).  Well, it is what it is.

Major thanks goes to 501, who’d spent days on the layout.  And in spite of the huge time difference betwen USA and Singapore, she is always up past her bedtimes to deal with our annoying needs and fixes.  Mycean, the editor who had to press through 110 pages of text in matter of days to fit our schedule.  And Kahira, who provided the QQ image for the postcard that will be an omake with this novel.

This novel will be in A5 (8.5X5), 120 pages and will have 19 illustrations total.  The book will contain TogaQ’s Studio notes and sketches in the back.

This novel is in English only (for now).

We will post more details on both ITW5 and FF in a few days, for the pre-sales.

Auctions for Japanese Relief Fund/Japan Red Cross

This past Friday night, I was at my desk shuffling some paperwork and re-reading neglected, unanswered emails while I kept Jo company over Skype.  She was finishing up a Conan cover and it was well into AM her time.  I surfed over to CNN and was met with a thick yellow banner splashed across the main page that said Tokyo had been shaken by a 8.9 earthquake.

We stayed up and followed the news.  Hours later, the first video streamed in images of the first big wave of Tsunami crawling in.  The motion was slow from the aerial view, almost like a creeping mudslide, as it rolled over the once-immaculate, prim farmlands.  A closer look at the black mass that was peppered with debris - you can see pieces of houses, cars, boats and even buildings with its topside on fire, being carried effortlessly along inland from seaside.  It was heartbreaking.

Then it was a chain of frantic emails and twittering to find friends and colleagues in Japan.  It would take almost 12 hours to locate everyone we knew.  Although we were relieved to know our loved ones’ safe, the situations they are in are still precarious and dire.  So, Jo and I want to help in some way.  Any way.  So we will thank you in advance for participating in this or any of the Yaoi-con’s auctions.

A note on the illustrated CTBK or ITW offered and not fanfic.  Although I still read mangas, and still do occasional gaming – I am not confident I would be able to deliver anything without OOC and/or insert them into an A/U.

ITW’s story might have to have a minor negotiation on the request if it comes.  Not too much has been divulged so far so it would be fine for me to write what you ask, even if it may contradict future installments.  We’ll just look the other way and consider it a side-trip of “what if”.  I’ll also issue an advanced apology for the restrictions.  As stated below, CTBK and ITW has been licensed (we will divulge the name of the publisher later this month) and although the rights are exclusive to Japan; we have to exercise discretion and limits on what we post on those two titles.

However, we did make a second option available so you’ll still walk away with a one-of-a-kind sketch from Jo! Or place a bid in for the super cute SD of Katsuya and Shinohara.

Whichever you choose, we thank you for your support!

AUCTION NO. 1 – Please go HERE to bid .  Below information are also on the auction page.

Please read through the details and agree to the terms before submitting your bid.

  1. The fandom’s limited to G|P’s creations of In These Words and Cruel to be Kind.
  2. The side-story will be approximately 25-30K in length.
  3. Any pairing can be requested.  For ITW, due to the limited release of the story so far – may be A/U.  We will avoid any possible spoilers.
  4. The writer will negotiate details of the request with the winner and set a delivery date.
  5. The request can be of any rating but G|P works better in the R-NC17 range.  BL only.
  6. There are some subject matters that Neko will not write and Jo will not draw.  For example:  scat, cannibalism, severe mutilation, or underage character abuse.  There might be more which may come up during the content negotiation.
  7. TogaQ/Jo Chen will provide one illustration for the completed story for the winner’s scene of choice.

The completed work:

  1. G|P will post this on our Web site and archive it on our Web-novel section.  The person who “won”  the commission will be credited.  This work will be jointly owned by G|P and the person who commissioned this work.
  2. The winner will receive e-version of the completed work.  TogaQ will provide a signed hard copy of the illustration.  Please do note – you will not receive a printable version of this illustration. Only large, low-resolution e-copy for you to keep.  This is due to the fact that both CTBK and ITW are both licensed in Japan – stipulation of use is limited to posting rights only for third party.
  3. By chance if G|P or a commercial entity wants to include this side story in any publishing, the winner who commissioned this side story will be contacted with a form of compensation (in the form of copies of the printed work it will be in).
  4. ONLY the person who won the commission of the work may distribute it with the understanding that no creator credit is replaced or removed from any postings.

If you’d rather have a fandom-specific request for Jo – we can do that too!

  1. Please no original concept/characters.  Fandom Requests only. However, you may request for CTBK/ITW characters.
  2. No more than 2 characters in the picture. The picture will be character-focused. That is, don’t expect an extremely detailed background.
  3. Please note the same above regarding what Jo will not draw. (i.e., underage, scat, etc.).  She respectfully reserves the right to refuse to draw certain theme she deems personally offensive and will suggest that you come up with an alternative.
  4. She will draw BL or Het.
  5. The picture will be in B&W and will be sent to you electronically.

If you’d like to sample what G|P can deliver – please peruse our Web-Novel section.

We thank you so much for supporting this auction!

Yaoi-Con Pictures and Stuffs

Just a few pictures for now…more later as we unload our pictures and choose the nicer ones to post to share our memories of the wonderful 10th Anniversary show.  Please do not hotlink these images.

Pre-Opening Ceremony on Friday Night: Hide-san and Okiayu-san (with Takanaga-sensei in the background, left) looking sharp for their debut.

Okiayu-san shows off his nifty leather shoes that he bought only hours earlier from Union Square.

Four Yaoi-Con Bishounens standing by, ready to pull the 4 cords that tied the rolled-up 15X15 foot banner.

On cue, the giant 10th Anniversary banner is revealed!

First Guest of Honor was introduced and presented with flowers: Ayano Yamane-sensei!

DMP’s Industry Guest Hinako Takanaga was introduced next.

Then the cheeky Seiyuus – Hidenobu Kiuchi and Okiayu Ryoutaro.  The guys were amused by the Con choice of ‘flower girls’.  We took extra pics of the guys because they were just so so so so cute!!!

THE Banner and Jo posing with it post-Opening.

BONUS: Happy Halloween from Okiayu-san and Hide-san!

Thank you!!

To everyone who visited our booth and purchase our doujins! Jo was genuinely pleased and honored to have so many fans drop by and let her know how much they loved ITW/CTBK.  So now, we are importing more copies in to meet the post-con order demands.  We will also make new prints available soon.  We’ve just returned from a mini Post-Con vacation and now back to our “usual” pace of things.  We have many things planned – to include a new web-novel and we are already working on ITW3.  Later this month, G|P will also be running a mini contest for CTBK. Stay tuned!!

The pre-con orders will be packed this weekend and be on its way out first thing Monday, we promise.  It was a bit challenging trying to locate our goods among a mountain of Ycon logistics and boxes.  We will be emailing all orders sent an email confirmation as soon as it is sent.

And now, for a little sexy…. This Kagura was made by Jo two weeks before Yaoi-con as a present to the show’s 10th anniversary to compliment the Sakiyama that had been gracing the Yaoi-Con’s splash page for most of this year.  We will update more in our Facebook on the Opening Ceremony photos taken of the 15 foot banner reveal.
